I've always wanted to share what I've learned about food production and preservation but until I find the proper time and energy to shift gears to that, please educate yourself. There are many available resources out there to get you started. Grow what you eat and learn what works for you. Not all regions of the US are equally productive and learning your USDA zone will take experience. Start small, a couple of 4x8 raised beds can produce hundreds of pounds of healthy food for your family and are a great choice for urban settings. As I stumble upon videos I think would be beneficial to a generalized audience, Ill post them in the sustainability thread of the forum.
I have planted a garden every year since we purchased our first house, and will again this year. It is quickly approaching seed starting time. Those of you who live in HOA's or multifamily units and either don't have space or are not allowed, need to petition those 'governing' bodies to provide space or remove the ridiculous rules. Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission.
